Private Family Chef (3 month contract with the option to extend) in Point Piper (WRYT)

We have an opportunity for a Chef to work for a Private family in Point Piper. The role is for 3-5 days per week (nogotiable) furing the day, starting ASAP.

General duties will include:

  • Create and prepare healthy, well balanced and nutritious meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients according to employers' preferences and tastes.  Note there are no allergies or diet restrictions.  Meals should be prepared during the day then set aside or put in the freezer with easy to read preparation instructions on how to serve / reheat. No plating or formal serving of meals is required.
  • Stock, organize and diligently clean the kitchen, cooking utensils and oversee all food related activities, including proper storage and recycling.  
  • Shop for groceries at local markets and grocery stores using your own car, ensuring that the pantry is readily stocked with client’s favourite items and healthy snacks. A weekly grocery float will be provided.
  • On occasion, prepare food for small parties (ie. children’s’ birthday), or other special functions when they arise such as a family BBQ. 
  • Create and explore new healthy menus and write up favourite recipes for the family to try out themselves in conjunction with preparing already well loved meals that the family currently enjoy.
  • Prepare a healthy ‘lunch box’ for Principals to take to work each day.
  • Ensure the utmost confidentiality is maintained in relation to the family, the home and its employees.  A full Police Check will need to be provided with at least 3 referees.

Qualifications:  Fully qualified Chef with a background in nutrition being a definite advantage who has also worked in a home environment cooking for young children who are at times particular about what they eat. We would also encourage any home cooks who have worked in a similar environment and who have the relevant experience to also apply.

Experience: At least 2 years prior experience working in a private family home.


  •   As the kitchen is the hub of the home, you must be able to work comfortably in a family home environment and have a happy yet respectful disposition.
  •   You should have the ability to be creative with children’s’ meals, who can at times be fussy eaters.
  •   You should have the ability to get along well with children and encourage them from time to time to assist with cooking meals and be invested in their nutrition.
  •    Whilst it’s not essential, establishing a small vegetable garden and getting the children to assist in its upkeep from time to time would be appreciated.

Performance Goals:

  • Provide healthy and nutritious meals for Principals and their 3 young children and at time a nanny.
  • Manage a weekly budget and deal with receipts and associated accounting in a timely, efficient and transparent manner.  
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and presentable at all times.


Salary: Dependent on experience


Hours: Negotiable
